Highlighters are kinda my life. Since I do a completely matte face, I pretty much need some sort of shimmery oomf so I don't look flat. Or old. Or crap.
When theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer hit my mailbox, I lost it. In the best way possible. There may have been squeals. Maybe a bit of a jig. Definitely some loon-style grinning. In short, I was ecstatic. This is because:
1. I'm kinda obsessing over theBalm at the moment
2. I've heard many, many good things about this prod
3. I love highlighters
4. Makeup in general brings me immense joy
Mary-Lou Manizer is a pale, gold-toned powder that, when swiped on the face, gives a beautiful mashup of sheen and shimmer. It's not a gritty, glittery powder so you look like a disco reject, but a nice, soft wash of shimmery, illuminated goodness that catches the light in the best way possible.
The texture of the powder itself is very soft and almost buttery to the touch. It's a nice-feeling powder. Swiping it on, it feels light and fresh and not at all heavy and powdery. You know how people say "it's a finely milled powder", I think this is what they mean. Or something.
I'm combo/oily skinned so, no matter what I do, my makeup does slip off my face eventually. Highlighter incuded. That being said, from what I hear, this stuff sticks. It definitely doesn't budge from my brow bone and inner-corner!
All up, I love this stuff. It's planted itself in my daily routine and is here to stay.
Head to David Jones and selected pharmacies to check this baby out. It's $34.95.
Oh, and for those wondering, it's oil and paraben free.
Hope you enjoyed!
