Heeey, shady Laaadyyy!

My apologies for the title.

Anyway...theBalm! When I first spotted the cutesy stand in my local David Jones, I was stoked. A new brand to play with! I rushed over to investigate and was immediately drawn to the shadows. The packaging was cute as leopard print pie and the shades were right up my neutral alley (though they do have a couple of colour colours). I swatched and YESSS! Smooth and pigmented. Not just a pretty face.

After a few dozen visits and many, many swatches, I finally bit the bullet and bought a couple of them late last year. luscious lani and just this once jamie are now mine.

There are three reasons why these shadows are worth their $19.95 pricetag.

1. They're smooth. The texture of these shadows is amazing. Very silky and buttery. They remind me of my Inglots, actually. I'm sure if you've got one yourself or even if you've just swatched them in-store, you can vouch for this. They just go on beautifully. And their finish is just as perf - silky with a smatter of sheen. Lush. Their texture is probably the reason why they also blend so easily. Just a few windscreen wiper motions and you're done.

2. They're pigmented. The photos speak for themselves, I guess. They swatch pigmented and they go on the eye just as pigmented. Tick!

3. They stay. I've been pretty lax with the lid primer recently. Laziness. These are one of the few shadows that can stay on my lids for the duration of the day, minus a primer. I do find that they lose a bit of their pop after a full workday, but they don't dissapear or crease, which is my main concern.

Here's a pic of my eye donning a wash of just this once jamie.

Would I buy more shades? Yes. Oh, yes. Because I don't have enough shadows in my collection. A blatant lie. I'm eyeing caught in the act courtney. IMMA COMIN'!

Have you tried these? What did you think? Any other theBalm prodz I really need to get my mitts on?

xx

  2. The TimeBalm primer is pretty dope if you like a lightweight, velvety formula. And the Nude Tude palette is gorgeous! Balm Jovi is eyeshadows with highlighter, blush, lip and cheek stain in the palette. Very pigmented :D
There's an offer in the DJs beauty book where you can get the primer free for purchasing product over $28.

I'm actually trying out Time Balm and it's kinda blowing my mind atm. And I'm not usually one for primers! haha

  3. Really pretty shades! I have swatched them before at David Jones and was impressed with the pigmentation. The neutral colours called out to me, but I managed to resist :p I remember liking Shameless Shana and Caught in the Act Courtney (I think that's what they were - had to rely on Google just then lol)
