If you know me, you probably know that I love playing up my eyes more than anything else on my mug. I’ve always been that way, ever since I started slathering my eyes with baby blue shadow in my teens. God, baby blue was my thaaang when I was a kid. Anyone from Sydney remember the shop Hound Dog? I lived there when I was a teen, buying anything and everything baby blue while ‘rocking’ baby blue lids. Heaps cool.
Anyway, let’s get back on track.
A while ago, I saw a verrry unflattering pic of myself. I wearing one of my all-time fave eye looks – heavy liner on the top and bottom lashlines. And heavy foundation. And thick, unintentionally UNEVEN brows. Boyyy, did I look old. Haggard. Grot. It wasn’t pretty. Wanna see? Of course you do.

So, I decided to change shit up a bit. Started lightening the liner and putting stuff on my lips. My goal? To try something different and make myself look a little ‘fresher’. I delved into my already-bursting drawers of makeup stuff and experimented. A lot. And…I'm liking it. It's fun to make yourself look different everyday! I even started using a lighter coverage foundation. Sure, it doesn’t cover everything I usually like to cover, but it strangely makes me look a little better. Don’t get me wrong, 9 times out of 10, I’ll stick to my Colorstay and Double Wear Maximum Cover, but it kinda feels good when I ditch the heavy stuff and go for something lighter. Almost liberating!
Some pics of my face with not as much shit on it. I'm clearly a selfie freak. I swear I'm not as up my arse as my Instagram may make it seem... The second one is sideways because I'm artistic/HAVING MAJOR TECH ISSUES.
I still do heavy liner every now and again (I love it too much to stray forever), but I def make sure I don’t look like arse/50 years old before I leave the house.
So yeah, just my little story about changing shit up and ditching the old for the new. Hope it wasn’t snooze inducing. :)

I can totally relate to this. It took me ages to step off the heavy base wagon. I just couldn't get my head around the 'less is more' idea. I love eye liner too. I apply less of both these days, and feel (and look) much better for it!

ReplyDeleteI've started doing more of the opposite actually, trying to play up my eyes a little more. But I have started trying to stop lining my waterline (a habit I got into at 14), but I feel like I look ill without it.
